This is an 8-hour SFST refresher course designed to improve the administration and overall consistency of the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Battery. Our mission is to decrease alcohol-related crashes, injuries, and deaths by promoting DWI deterrence and enforcement proficiency.

 *Successful completion of the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Practitioner Course is a prerequisite.

Benton Brumit started his Law Enforcement career in 2008 after graduating from Texas A&M University - Commerce in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  Benton attended the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Police Academy and has been certified as Texas Peace Officer since 2008 with the City of Rockwall. Benton currently holds an Advanced Peace Officer Certification.


Benton attended SFST instructor training in 2013 and was certified after completing the mandatory 50 hour class. Benton has been utilized by the Rockwall County District Attorney’s Office in DWI trials on the proper administration of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.  Benton is currently assigned to the Patrol Division and Honor Guard but assists with the training of new Police recruits in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and DWI detection.
