About Our Program:

The SFST Program is funded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in an effort to give Texas Peace Officers access to this important and FREE training.

Our mission is to decrease alcohol-related crashes, injuries, and deaths by promoting DWI deterrence and enforcement proficiency.

The SFST Training Program offers an 8-hour refresher course (TCOLE 2177 or 2178) designed to improve the administration and overall consistency of the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Battery. Successful completion of the 24-hour Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Practitioner Course or Basic Peace Officer Course SFST training (TCOLE mandated after January 1, 2005) is a prerequisite to this course.

Training Topics:

Recognizing and Interpreting DWI Evidence

Administering the SFST

Describing DWI Evidence Clearly and Convincingly

Recent Case Law and Research Studies

Current Trends and Best Practices
