SFST

About Our Program:

The SFST Program is funded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in an effort to give Texas Peace Officers access to this important and FREE training.

Our mission is to decrease alcohol-related crashes, injuries, and deaths by promoting DWI deterrence and enforcement proficiency.

The SFST Training Program offers an 8-hour refresher course (TCOLE 2177 or 2178) designed to improve the administration and overall consistency of the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Battery.

Training Topics:

Recognizing and Interpreting DWI Evidence

Administering the SFST

Describing DWI Evidence Clearly and Convincingly

Recent Case Law and Research Studies

Current Trends and Best Practices

How to Host an SFST Class:

Agencies and prosecutors interested in hosting an SFST class should contact one of the following members of the SFST Program Team. We require a minimum of 10-15 officers for a class and encourage multiple agencies to attend the training.
